Be Careful What You Wish For
Success Tips for Women that Prepare You to Receive
Most of us have heard the phrase "Be Careful What You Wish For…You Just Might Get It"
I've worked with many women to uplevel their careers, seeking new careers or in the midst of starting a new business. There are key areas of wishing for success that are discussed in this article that you can be taken away with a personal action plan. Ready to take notes? This article will be helpful to women entrepreneurs who really want to make a difference in the world.
The saying mentioned above has a slightly negative connotation – for example, be careful to NOT create something in your life you DO NOT want.
As a woman entrepreneur or career woman, this can be a powerful message if you use it in your favor.
As you wish for more success, it is highly important to align yourself with that success. And to be prepared when it shows up so you are not missing out on opportunities.
Let me give you some examples and tips to help you prepare for RECEIVING WHAT YOU WISH FOR…
Examples of Wishes you might have:
- I wish to have 4 new clients this month.
- I wish to be offered an opportunity to speak or showcase my business to a large audience.
- I wish I had an assistant.
- I wish it was easeir to be successful.
- I wish I could partner with other women to expand my career / business.
- I wish I could make more money.
- I wish they would buy my product.
- I wish new clients could find me easily.
Questions to ask yourself so you are prepared to have your wish fufilled:
- Am I organized enough to take on more clients – time, energy and planning?
- Am I clear on who my ideal client is so that I can find them and they find me?
- Am attracting the right clients now who appreciates me and pays willingly?
- Am I really open to new ventures, opportunities and the journey or am I stuck in HOW everything MUST happen?
- Am I clear on my message and how I can serve?
- Am I clear on what I need an assistant for and am I willing to train them?
- Am I willing to step up my game without being competitive, jealous or resentful?
- Am I able to communicate my ideas and be truly open to a co-creation?
- Am I too focused on the hard way or am I aligned with my intuitive guidance and grace?
- Am I consistently practicing inner growth and letting go of beliefs that hold me back?
- Am I willing to invest in myself, my business and even in their product or do I just want them to buy from me?
As you can see, the lists can go on and on. It is necessary to be careful what you wish, if you are not prepared for it – it will likely not happen, be short-lived or it will be hard, disappointing and without much joy!
So what is the answer here?
Being prepared for what you want to show up, of course! Knowing what you want is necessary. From there you line yourself up with the results of receiving it! (BE that woman who has what you want – the inner and outer ways she shows up)
Here are a few tips to get you going:
- Maybe you need to take a class, get training, learn new skills, hire a coach.
- Get clear on business plans, goals, timelines.
- Learn to ask for the sale with confidence and pride.
- Stop hiding.
- Expand on your your abundant money beliefs- this is a big one for many.
- Decide right now to set new boundaries, when you are willing to say yes and when to say no.
- Stop focusing on what is not working and work on yourself instead.
- Engage, engage, engage – don't just expect others to support you when you are not really willing to support them.
- Embody feminine empowered success traits in mind, body and spirit.
BE the woman who is living and enjoying these wishes fulfilled!
The coaching programs I offer at Empower the Dream prepare new clients for this journey. We start the process by consciously claiming their leadership and crafting beliefs of a Feminine Leader – then quickly shift into them by taking action from that place. (see client testimonies)
Making it happen gets down to implementing the essentials – exactly what you need, when you need it, and nothing you don't. Focus on being the woman with the wishes fulfilled and and soon you'll experience more of the ease and results you long for in your business – while creating generous income and impact along the way.

Great questions, Teresa. I know people who don’t plan for success…and are caught flat-footed when it happens. We have to plan as much for success as we do failure.
Teresa Salhi says
Absolutely Jackie!

Excellent post Teresa. So many times we are stuck in the wish state. You statement about being prepared for what you want to show up is clear and suscicint to making those wishes come true. You’re really making me rethink where I have been focusing my energies.
Teresa Salhi says
We all give a little off track and distracted Joyce. This is why we need each other – and as women to really stand together and support our dreams and stop competing with each other.

I love that quote. I said it just yesterday. Your explanation is powerful and gives anyone with a wish a clear path to success!

Wonderful reflection Christy – thank you!

Great post Teresa. I find it wonderful that you spelled out what wishes are and defined what actions would need to be taken to get them fulfilled. The right actions with the right intention is where we need to be to have the Universe deliver. I’m sure you would be a great guide to women frustrated with their wishes going unfulfilled.
Teresa Salhi says
Thank you Audrey for those lovely comments, I am honored and happy that you see this benefit.
Carol Rundle says
Really good tips, Teresa. You have to know who you are and how what you want will work for you. It’s so easy to get distracted by how others do things. Stay focused.
Teresa Salhi says
Yes for sure Carol!

So appreciate this inquiry. Great approach & one we are in midst of looking at. What do we really want & can we produce to match our wish.
Teresa Salhi says
Thank you Roslyn, I am glad you liked it!
Karen Grosz says
I love that all the wishes are positive in what you want, not what you don’t want. That is definitely key to phrase in the positive. The one area I am working on is to confidently ask for the sale.
Teresa Salhi says
Ah yes, that is a pretty common and challenge for entrepreneurs and women. I have put together a process of how to get to the sale easily and share this with many of my clients. One this to keep in mind or to embody more… what you do is a gift and it is helpful to others – when you really believe in this and come from that perspective – it does make the asking easier. You are doing them a favor – they need you. Remember this. I can help you more if you are interested. All the best.
Karen Grosz says
Teresa, yes it really is a gift. I have the gift of healthy now and have the gift given to me to help others. I will keep that in mind. Thank you.
Kristen Wilson says
You bring upon some seriously excellent questions… because what we want and what we have to offer in the same equation maybe different. Sure, who doesn’t want more money which equals more clients….but can you handle those? All very important
Teresa Salhi says
Yes exactly Kristen! If we are not prepared for what we want we can end up sabotaging our results.
Sabrina M Quairoli says
I love the list of questions. I am going to ponder them this evening to help me get clear on what I want. Thank you for the reminder, Teresa.
Teresa Salhi says
Yes of course – ponder and stay open to your answers. It is all good. You will get your answers … Thanks Sabrina.

It’s an interesting way you’ve postured this Teresa, as in many of the courses or teachings I have been involved with, it has been suggested to eliminate the idea of wishing or hoping. By saying something like, “I am attracting 5 new clients by the end of the month”. Using introductory words like “I am” or “I have” as if it is already a reality. I like your ideas and questions to ask ourselves, as often we have desires and wishes and yet we might not be prepared or ready to manifest them. Appreciate this perspective!
Teresa Salhi says
Yes of course. I hear you on the words such as I am or I have – and will use or teach from that point as well. What I find is most important is our feeling behind the words. We can wish and not feel it will ever happen or we can wish and expect our reality. Words do have power and a vibrational frequency – we add to it with our own.

Love the questions and the tips, Teresa! I’ve spent the past year asking myself many of the questions you presented as we build out our business and tweak our services/products to serve a particular niche. One of the biggest changes I made was hiring a business/life coach last year, which has made a significant difference in my mindset. Love this topic and all that you gave me to think about!
Teresa Salhi says
That is wonderful Meghan and you are so welcome. Carry on darling! 🙂
Susan Mary Malone says
Boy, did I need this post this morning, Teresa! I’ve had an interesting thing happen in my business–a big success has opened a new world. I’m not sure I had this wish before: “I wish to be offered an opportunity to speak or showcase my business to a large audience,” but it’s happened nonetheless. And I find myself a bit adrift! Your questions really help me in sorting through. Thank You!
Teresa Salhi says
Sometimes a smaller number of wishes and manifest in unique opportunities – as you are finding out Susan. It is all part of our journey not necessarily the destination. 🙂 You will be fab!
