What is the secret to finding ……. me?
That could be a rather odd question for some. But maybe you get what I mean.
Do you wonder why, at this point in your life, you feel as if you are missing out on really living your divine purpose, manifesting your desires or realizing your fullest potential?
Why are these thoughts lingering and popping up when you least expect it – what's really going on?
The answers may not be what you'd expect.
Here's my take on it, what I've learned from my own experiences and from working with many other women.
Oftentimes, a woman will spend far too much energy denying or trying to cover up who she really is. Not fully expressing herself, hiding or not even knowing who she is. Or she holds back from saying what’s really on her mind and holding back her unique perspective out of fear that no one will understand her or support her…..
Just recently one of my clients admitted that she feels as if there’s this whole other huge dream life hiding within her and begging to find a way out. But she’s been ignoring it and holding it all in… out of fear. Fear of being judged, of people not truly understanding her, of what it will mean if she really lives from her true being. She's tired of it all and tired of asking herself – who am I?
Does this feel like anything you've experienced? If so, I have some good news that will help!
You have a couple of choices here: You can keep trying to hold it all in and never be fully expressed from your true being. You may continue feeling like you're missing out; on the verge of explosion at any moment; unexplainably busting into tears; losing your passion for life, love, and the level of success that includes a deeper purpose, deserved abundance and true happiness.
Eventually, escaping the pain all that pressure causes may require drinking too much alcohol, pretending, choosing people unwisely, over-shopping, over-eating or any of a dozen other distractions. Eventually, you will have an eye-opening awareness and embarrassingly see yourself from an unsavory perspective and think, “Oh. My. God. How did I get here? This isn’t who I am!”
Or, you have another choice. You can find a way to allow yourself to finally feel safe and truly reveal your beautiful light to the world. The woman who you came here to be. Seriously, this is really the only choice – don't you agree? The only sane choice for your family, and the people who need your help right now.
It was the only same choice for me too. Finding me was up to me!
It's time to believe. You’re not helping yourself,
or anybody for that matter, by holding it all in!
There are some things you can step into right now that are essential to allowing your spirit and light to finally shine.
1. Uncover Your True Values. I am not referring to your traits or personal qualities. But what are the real priorities in your life? You learn about yourself in a very unique way by looking at what you do each day, what you talk about, what surrounds you, how others would describe you, and more. This is also the path to your purpose.
2. Emotional Maturity. Allowing your light to shine and to inspire others requires letting go of the baggage, drama or pain that may have been your point of contention up to now. When you can accept yourself and others, relinquish blame of others (including you!) and take responsibility for your life, (one way or another) you are suddenly able to create from a canvas that is not soiled but of pure positive love.
3. Spiritual Connection. Recognize there is a force bigger that you. When you allow this force, this divine energy in the world to take over, it will lead you in a different direction. A direction away from struggle and into best of you. Learn how to ask and to follow your divine guidance. Trusting life will brings you what you desire when you allow the path to unfold.

I’ve had several “life dreams” throughout the course of my life, and just recently, God gave me a new one. It’s already coming to pass and I couldn’t be more excited!
Teresa Salhi says
You are so blessed to see this and allow yourself to experience Carol. Yes, life is good!

OH yes, here is to connecting to ourselves and to me the best way to do it is through my faith. When I take time to realize who I am as I relate to God, I then know where I fit and it helps me to then let me be me, a Child of God who is loved. I do believe too many people never take the time to know themselves. Once you do, you are limitless.
Teresa Salhi says
So true and such a powerful, beautiful reflection. Thank you for sharing Karen.

I especially like # 3 above. Also, I think it goes beyond just acknowledging that there are things bigger than us – it’s participating in them (and recognizing that we’re participating in them). One of my favorite authors states that she recognized when she was pregnant that she was helping assist God in a miracle. I think when we do anything for the greater good – help at a food shelter, read to the kiddos at a school, volunteer at a voting booth or a hospital … we gain a spiritual connection with life – and with our true selves. If I even open a door for an older person, I can actually FEEL my authentic self shine.
Teresa Salhi says
Beautifully said, Joan….is it our higher purpose that I believe we are reaching for whether consciously or not.

I don’t think it’s because some of us are afraid of opening up but that we don’t know who we are to be me.. ya know? Sound silly?
Teresa Salhi says
Yes, I agree that is so much part of it…
Jackie Harder says
Excellent! Yes, we women too often hold ourselves back from showing who we really are, because we’re afraid of what other people will think, in most cases. Which gives me the perfect opportunity share one of my all-time favorite quotes: “We would worry less about what others think of us if we realized how seldom they do.” Ethel Barrett

That is great, Jackie!

Finding me is a great title. We need to invest time to know who we are so we can shine a bright light to the world.
Teresa Salhi says
Keep shining Christy!

I think sometimes we are so busy doing that we neglect to keep track of where we’re going and who we want to be. It’s often not until we are older that we make the time for introspective analysis and then see if we like where we are. Thankfully, the learning process doesn’t stop and it sounds like you offer great help to those who need it.
Teresa Salhi says
Yes, thank you Tami.

Why is it that is seems to take women such a long time to start working on “finding themselves” Why is it we don’t do this in our 20’s? Wouldn’t life be so much easier if we did? But then again, we wouldn’t be who we are today if we didn’t experience all that growing in our 20s and 30’s, right? I have 2 daughters in their 20’s who have gone through SO many different goals and plans for “what they want to be” and actually still struggle with it. As their mother I want to help them and show them the path, but as a coach, I understand they need to figure it out for themselves.
Teresa Salhi says
Such great questions and insight…thank you for being here!
Beverley Golden says
For a lot of women (and men), life really is a journey back to ourselves. Each of us has our own destiny and our own timing when it comes to “finding” our true selves. I often find women in their early Mars years, 42 – 44, are asking these questions and making choices that ultimately put themselves first. This is part of the biography cycles and isn’t always easy for women to face. Many people also “stay busy” in the outer world to avoid looking within and doing the work. Ultimately not doing our own inner work, shows up on a physical, emotional or spiritual level. It sounds like you are empowering women to uncover or discover themselves and then to choose themselves and put themselves first, Teresa!
Teresa Salhi says
Such wise words Beverley and it is absolutely what I am on a mission to support…

I feel blessed that I did powerful work years ago and am fully self expressed, had a career I loved where I was respected and truly made a difference in others lives. I’ve been a coach & people still turn to me for support and coaching. Now in the last decades I am expressing myself creatively and I couldn’t ask for a fuller, more rounded life than the one I have created. I hope women who need your help, turn to you so they can reach their full potential.
Teresa Salhi says
What a blessed woman indeed, thank you Roslyn.
