What is Holding Me Back?
Do you ever think, "what is holding me back from moving forward in my life or career?" Like, here I am.standing in my power, feeling the call of my soul, knowing I am ready to take the leap and soar to new heights…….but I just don't do it.
There's something holding me back, AGAIN. Ugh.
It's different for everyone but a few common themes or beliefs that hold women back are around time, money, relationships, health and education.
But what if I told you – it's not that, it's just not true!
What if I told you that it's not what you think?
Einstein once said "You cannot fix a problem at the same level of consciousness that created it."
So, if you can't fix a problem with the 5% of your conscious mind that is creating the problem, how are you supposed to make any significant change in your life?
You do it differently – you access the 95% of the subconscious that is really running the show!
I've learned this lesson through years of repeating patterns that didn't serve me. Until I learned the secret ingredient I'd been missing that allowed me to do things completely differently. I encourage you to find your secret ingredient too. The secret for me is in the awareness that I cannot always work from the level of the mind only.
In our program, Feminine Way – Manifesting The Life You Really Want my co-host and I talk alot about being the leaders of our own movement. To be high vibrational women. To stop following the crowd, the drama, the guilt, the limiting patterns, the loneliness and comparing yourself to others out there – we need to embrace a radical approach that bypasses the mind and goes to the heart of the matter – the subconscious. We also need to engage, embody and understand the power of your divine feminine.
This is why women like you, who are smart, with big desires and a lot of experience and knowledge, are still blocked and have "stuff" coming up in your lives that you "can't figure out."' It's because the stuff that's occurring is not at the level of the mind! It's not about being smart or getting it "right." If you leave it up to your subconscious, it will always out maneuver you.
So what's a girl to do?
Reach out and get help. Stop spinning. Stop self sabotaging. Stop getting on the same roller coaster.
There is an opportunity to get the help you need. For many, I recommend individualized support – it's what I do and I am good at it. It get's the ball rolling in the right direction first. How do I know? Well, I've been there too. For years. Now, I dedicate my waking hours to working with women who have so much potential but there's this one little area that stops the unfolding of …everything!
If this is you, let's change this before another day, week or year goes by….
Please contact me here to request a complimentary consultation. We wiill beging to unravel your question, "what is holding me back?" I can offer lightening bolts of insights and get you re-connected to your personal power again.

Hi Teresa,
Personal growth and being the kind of woman that you are meant to be is an ever changing thing for us 😉 Loved these awesome tips on how to listen to that side of us that will HELP us to move ahead and make those must needed changes we need to make to keep moving forward!
Thanks for the great post! Great share!!
Teresa Salhi says
Wonderful, I am glad you found it helpful Joan!
Roslyn Tanner Evans says
Personal growth and transformation never ends. We don’t really know this until life happens and it is wonderful that you have found a way to guide other women on their path. I know it keeps you going on your own. Stuff pops up that we think we dealt with and with your skill, we just deal with it again.
Teresa Salhi says
Yes, so true – it is never ending but what changes is our own strength, awareness and upleveling. Thanks for being here Roslyn.
Joyce Hansen says
For many years I worked as a hypnotherapist. One reason I went into the field was because I was fascinated by how the subconscious mind was such a powerful force in our lives. This is an area that everyone needs to focus on. You don’t have to use hypnosis – self- reflection, meditation, counseling support and art therapy are very good options as well. Congratulations on making the subconscious an intregal part of your program.
Teresa Salhi says
Thank you Joyce for noticing about the subconscious and making the point about the various ways to reprogram – that is exactly how I see it too. Appreciate your comments.
Deb Nelson says
Lots of self-sabotaging – if we look at ourselves from someone else’s vantage point it can really be eye opening.
Teresa Salhi says
Yes, that is a very eye opening perspective Deb.
Christy Brennan Soukhamneut says
Yes, the self-sabotaging happens too often. Let’s keep on dreaming and reaching for the stars.
Teresa Salhi says
Yes for sure Christy!
Jackie Harder says
What holds us back? Mostly, it’s in our heads. The sad thing is this: We’ve got enough outside forces that hold us back, for one reason or another. Why we want to join them is beyond me!
Teresa Salhi says
No kidding Jackie…ha. Thanks for being here….
Meghan Monaghan says
Ugh, self sabotage. I’ve watched people do this and it’s painful, Teresa. I will say that I was definitely the one holding myself back, until this year. That mental transition helped me to put the corporate world behind me and freely move forward. Support from key friends has really been beneficial too.
Teresa Salhi says
It feels so wonderfully empowering to be in a flow….awesome work Meghan – keep shining bright!

Teresa – loved the A. Einstein quote! The older I get, the more I’m starting to believe that getting rid of the obstacles must be replaced by something else. For instance, if I had to help someone quit smoking, I’d be encouraging them to take up walking, knitting, coloring – something else, anything else – to replace the bad habit. Same thing if I had to help them with destructive thoughts, memories, OCD actions … etc. And you’re right about support – individual support & group support. There’s a reason 12-step programs (with individual sponsors) work so well for people with addictions!
Teresa Salhi says
Yes, when I first heard that quote by Einstein, it perked up my ears too and really made me contemplate it. Yes, we are here to help each other – and not mean to be doing it all alone like so many unfortunately still do – yet hopefully it is changing…
Kristen Wilson says
Wow… good stuff girl.. and I am the one holding me back, but not in my business as I am killing it.. but just not enjoying life like I could.. working on trying to find what I have joy in doing that doesn’t involve work, which my success is what I currently find joy in… damnit.
Teresa Salhi says
Maybe it is doing nothing Kristen. I mean, maybe is being in some exquisite self care of long essential oil bubble baths, and journaling from my heart, listening to magical music, reading a delicious book, buying flowers taking a nap, getting a facial or massage..just some nice feminine ritual type of activities that is more about serving ourself inside vs. just doing something outside as a hobby. These are the type of things that raise your vibration and engage your feminine power even more….:) Just a thought.
Kristen Wilson says
Part of my problem.. I don’t do… idle. I listen to music all day long while I do things. I read at the gym while on elliptical, I get bored in the tub and I don’t have one now… still trying to find that thing, ya know?
Teresa Salhi says
Hey girl….have you tried asking yourself? The truth is, asking ourselves is powerfully enlightening but we have to listen too. 🙂 That is what I find many women I work with need help with ….you are definitely not alone. So, try asking yourself, what can I do that makes my heart sing and bring me joy and fulfillment? If I could do anything what would it be? and…you can even look back over your very young life….is there something you did then that you felt lost in love with? Maybe it won’t be the exact same thing but there is likeley a thread to follow…. Those things have helped me too. Be open, listen and enjoy the discovery …. being in discovery is a big step in itself.
Beverley Golden says
It always starts with peeling back the onion to uncover what the subconscious block is. Sometimes that is challenging for people, because it is so deeply buried, that bringing it to the surface, is a process. I’ve also done a lot of work and have uncovered and transformed a lot of deep-seated issues. Just when I think they are fully transformed, I’m asked to peel away another layer to go even deeper. Working with a process that works for you, is truly such a gift to discover. For me it was therapeutic art. The art never lies, because it is our soul that is speaking through the art. You work with women sounds so beautifully empowering, Teresa. How lovely to share personal experiences to be of service to others!
Teresa Salhi says
Thank you for the nice comments Beverley. I really love how you make reference to our journey of life and growth as therapeutic art – it really is. We can heal, connect, feel, express, evolve, create, birth… and so much with our life journey and although every single moment may not feel good, they can all lead to a better feeling place. Thanks for being here.
Tami Fazel says
Finding those hidden blockages, and then eliminating them, is the key to achieving your goals. Often a helping hand – someone who can see more clearly through their objectivity – is the only way.
Teresa Salhi says
Yes that sounds wonderful, doesn’t it Tami?
Karen Grosz says
I agree that we all need help. Part of the problem is figuring out what I really need help with. At different times I have had coaches, advisors, and just a good mastermind team.
Teresa Salhi says
I commend you on getting support Karen. Sometimes we are the teacher and sometimes we are the student. As long as we can discern our moment and act accordingly, we are making huge progress and helping another do the same. How wonderful is that?
Sabrina M Quairoli says
Doing things differently – I love this statement! I heard this when I was a kid and keep reminding myself of this everyday and especially when I feel stuck trying to find a new way. Very inspiring post! Thanks.
Teresa Salhi says
Hi Sabrina, there is another saying that I often think about – it you keep doing the same thing, you will keep getting the same result. Thanks for commenting and being here.
Susan Mary Malone says
Isn’t that just so often the case, Teresa–those buried complexes hold us back. And how freeing it is to find and then let them go!
I just love: “being the leaders of our own movement.” How cool is that!
Teresa Salhi says
Yes, Susan, when we can let go of what holds us back from our highest potential – we really have a life of dance and magic!
Renee Groskreutz says
I have started reading affirmations and they made a HUGE difference for me. When I take a few days off b/c of being distracted or whatever, I start to see a difference in my life. These things matter. Mindset matters!
Teresa Salhi says
That is great Renee. Affirmations can help a great deal and you have proof that they do for you. I hope you will continue to listen to your inner spirit and keep reaching for the things that make a difference in your life.
